Little America, Wyoming

Back in the fall of 2009 on what has become known as our "Last Hurrah" trip we we passed several resorts named "Little America" while driving in Arizona, Utah and Wyoming. These resorts were certainly not hard to spot. Sitting in the middle of a landscape that for many miles in all directions consisted of your typical southwestern hot, dry and barren dessert, these resorts were very green and lush. They contained golf courses, manicured lawns, large sky-blue pools and buildings designed to be noticed.

I shot this photo of the water towers for the resort in Cheyenne Wyoming sitting off some distance from the lush green campus.

A bit of interesting trivia I learned from some literature I picked up at the time tells me that nearby is the small town of Little America, Wyoming. A town founded to house some of the executives and staff of the resort. As of the 2000 census the town had 56 residents consisting of 28 males and 28 females living at 49 different addresses and a registered post office that delivered to P.O. Boxes only with the zip code 82929. The towns average age was under 25 years with a median income of $18,000.
