Come and Gone

This collection of sunny yellow posies were all taken during a recent visit to the Old Salt's brother in Columbia, Missouri.  I was so surprised to find this field full of blooming sunflowers in mid October.  I have no idea what the other yellow blooms are but I found them along the riverbank at Eagles Bluff Wildlife Preserve.

Fall has come and gone if this giant Maple tree is any example.  This collage contains photos of the same tree taken two weeks apart.  This Maple sits in the field behind my house. The shots were taken at different times of day from different spots in my backyard.

The leaves have blown into my yard and those of my neighbors to be raked up and placed at the curb for collection.  If you enlarge this photo, you will notice that the bare tree is still the favorite resting place of all the robins that feed off the insects in this field.

While autumn is not my favorite time of year,  I have to admit I am more partial to the look of this tree when the bare limbs are silhouetted against the evening sky.

Mellow Yellow Monday ---- quail bait

MellowYellowMondayBadge Our area is beginning to move from mellow yellows to harvest golds but I still managed to capture a few yellows for this week's Mellow Yellow.

The Old Salt managed to pull into traffic the other day right behind this jeep. I had the camera sitting in my lap (as I usually do when a passenger) and was able to capture the rear view of this yellow vehicle. I don't know which of the two plates I like better.

I took this photo on a recent drive in the country. This field was planted with three crops that provided a stripped effect. The dark green at the bottom is soybean and the brown at the top is corn. The golden stripe in the middle is sunflower. I sure wish I had been there a few weeks earlier when they were all blooming. While sunflowers are usually grown for the seeds, I learned a few days ago that some farmers are planting them to attract quail.

Have a good week everyone. To join in the fun or visit other Mellow Yellow shots visit Drowsey Monkey and her friends here

Mellow Yellow Monday ---- trio of sunny summer

MellowYellowMondayBadgeit is time to visit Mellow Yellow Monday and see what sunny captures all the participants have to share this week. As for me, I have chosen three very yellow and very summery shots for my entry. First I have a bright sunflower that is growing beside the stairway leading up to the porch of a house down the block.

Next is the sunny eating area outside of a small deli next store to my camera shop.

And last, we have a tiny goldfinch that likes to visits our bird feeders.
