Shadow Shot Sunday ---# 63 Praying Mantis

Welcome to another week of Shadow Shot Sunday. You never know where you will find a good shadow shot, and sometimes they find you. That is the case with my entry today.

What I thought was going to be a quick stop at Radio Shack turned into a rather lengthy photo session when I noticed a large praying mantis climbing the window beside the door. I recently purchased my first macro lens, and I wanted to see what it could do with this giant bug. As I snapped away the bug moved across the window over a streach of wall and up the the next window.

When I got home and downloaded the shots I found that the one on the window had a nice refection and the one on the wall had a nice shadow. You can see the green wing in the reflection. If you enlarge the photo you may see that the reflection looks more like a charcoal drawing than a mirror image.

First is a shot of the praying mantis and then the shadow shots. Enjoy.

Have a great week everyone. For more great shadow shots click the camera badge to visit Hey Harriet and join in the fun.

  3. I meant to write last night, then zzzz'd out.
Color me, "WOW-ed" by that last pix. I don't know much about art, but have a hunch that one would fetch a "pretty penny" in some high-falutin' gallery in NYC. What a gift you've got, Rita! Thanks for sharing it with us.

  4. I came for Mellow Yellow which reminded me that our county fair is going on and I wanted to go. But I also love the mantis photos....

Thank you for stopping by my site. Without your visits there would be no incentive to continue posting. So, having you here and reading your comments is the highlight of my day.

I regret that time does not always allow me to return visits to everyone who stops by, but, I will certainly do my best to get to everyone. I will definitely answer any questions you leave me.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.
