How could I resist posting to Alphabe Thursday this week, since Ginny is featuring the letter "K."
Most of you may not know this but my maiden name starts with a "K." Now I will give you one big hint. You should be able to figure it out from the following photo of me.
Yep, that is a suit of armor I am wearing in this Photo. Did you guess I was standing behind a cut out of a Knight? Then, you would be correct.
I was the chairperson for our annual family reunion held last fall. I found this cut-out on Craigslist and knew it would be a perfect addition for this reunion. I certainly went all out for this year's celebration because it was our centennial year as a family. My grandparents were married in 1910 making this the 100th anniversary of their marriage. My grandparents had six children and because of their union over 225 people now bear the name Knight. More then one third of them link back to my father.
This big guy was another Craigslist find. He stands almost seven feet tall. At the end of the reunion there was a drawing to see who was going to get to take this fellow home. It became a lot of fun because there were those who wanted to win and those who didn't. My ingenious husband came up with the idea to sell raffle tickets to those who did not want to win to guarantee their name would not be included in the drawing. As a result we added a nice amount to the starting kitty for out next reunion. So, for me, night always starts with a K!
These are a few of the centerpieces I made for the occasion.

Hi Rita! I have to tell you that I am giggling because I looked at the photo and thought, OH, a king! I must be too tired to think straight! Visiting you from alphabet thursday Miss Knight! Now good Knight! :) Alex
ReplyDeleteYou really did go all out! I bet the reunion was a hit. Who won the knight?
ReplyDeleteThat really made my Thursday...lol...Sounds like you all had a great time and you and your husband put on a great reunion. Take care.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun Letter K post and as it turned out PERFECT for you! Very clever props for your Knight Reunion. I'd say you have a Knight In Shining Armor of a Husband!

Nothin' better than a good, old-fashioned family reunion. And it sounds like you did yours up right!
ReplyDelete=)
Great photo for a great challenge. You look good.
ReplyDeleteNancy
it must be fun coming from such a large family ... so, did the winner enjoy his/her knight???
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lot of fun. Does the winner adopt the knight for the year and bring him back to the next reunion? That would be a fun tradition to start.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week-end, Annette
So nice to see you here on Alphabe-Thursday!
ReplyDeleteI was really impressed with those neat centerpieces! I bet whoever won was totally excited!
Your picture is so cute!
Thanks for a fun stop. I enjoyed my visit here today.
