Does a Robin Hunt Signal Spring

I slept in later than usual today and awoke to find the back door standing wide open, the cats having a field day on the patio and the Old Salt no where to be found. After a few minutes of searching the house I spotted him from the bedroom window in the field behind our condo. I grabbed my camera and managed to capture the following shots of him practicing his stealth training as he was slowly inching his way toward a robin sitting in the middle of the field. He managed to get within five feet of the robin before it turned its back and started to slowly hop away.

I was convinced that fat bird must be sick or to portly to fly. Then suddenly it was gone. the Old Salt tells me that he has watched that same bird playing in the field several times recently and he figures the field must contain a smorgasbord of birdie delights. Perhaps we will soon be able to locate a nest and some well fed hatchlings.

Then I will know that spring has definitely arrived. I can't wait.

  1. Rita,
I think we have Robins that stay here all year round. I have seen so many just lately in a field near our home. Thank you for stopping by my blog today. Hope you enjoy your visit to Alabama this spring!
