Pink Saturday ----- stained glass

Earlier this year the Old Salt spent some time working for the US Census teaching training classes in a tri-county area of our state. Since he moved here from California when we got married, three short years ago, I would often do trial runs with him; so that he would be able to find his way to wherever his classes were scheduled.

On these excursions we would do some sightseeing and whenever possible, visit the area antique shops and flea markets. During a visit to the small town of Rosebud, Missouri I photographed this stained glass table lamp in a strange shop that was part antique, part hardware and part appliance store.

A few days later the Old Salt came home from his class and presented me with the lamp as a gift. It now sits on the table between our chairs in the living room.

I have to admit I have one serious vice. I just can't go to bed at night unless I have checked Craigslist for our area to see if I can find any new postings that could be of interest or profit. So when I knew for sure that we were going to travel to Oklahoma a few weeks ago I checked the Tulsa Craigslist. During our visit, we made two detours to pick up some great items I found listed.

One of those stops was in the town of Tahlequah where we met the nicest lady who works with stained glass in her home studio. Besides creating original works of art she repairs broken and damaged pieces for others. Occasionally she will buy and repair pieces that she resells on Craigslist.

The swag lamp pictured here is one of those pieces. This turquoise and pink lamp now hangs over our dining table that sits at the other end of our combined living and dining room. I was delighted to find a lamp that was such a good match for the one we already had.
And what better to post for this Pink Saturday than these fabulous pair of mismatched but (I believe) compatible lamps. They remind me very much of me and the Old Salt. He likes to quote Forrest Gump a lot and claims that we are just "like peas and carrots." And, I think that quote also applies to these beauties.
