lantana

This pot of Lantana sits at the corner of my house.  The above photos show the growth from May 15th to July 18th.  I noticed today that it has grown at least another foot wider since this last photo was taken.  Over the years I have planted most of the colors available but keep coming back to this pink and Yellow orange combination.  I have even painted my front door to match the yellow orange color.  Lantana has become one of my favorite plants for large pots because I find it very easy to grow.  Give it lots of water and even more sunshine and it does great.

  1. I keep wanting to plant it - somehow have never managed to do it! I love this plant - and I am not sure if I have seen any other color...this is my favorite. Yours has grown quite nicely!

  2. I love lantana and have this color and a couple of yellow plants this year. I put a lantana in a big wash tub with my cone flowers and a Mexican Heather and it took over both of them. Yours is marvelous.

  4. I love Lantana too :0) Most years I have it in pots and in the driveway flowerbed...this year I don't have it due to all of the construction out front :0(

  5. I love that plant -- we first saw it when we were staying in Port Aransas Texas, and there is some in Florida, but I don't think it grows up here -- I've never seen any here. The colors are scrumptious -- I'd paint my porch to match it too!

  8. I too am a lantana lover. I've never grown it in pots but when I lived in Phoenix it was one of the few flowering plants I could keep alive during the heat of the summer. I had one whole bed with a combination of the lavender and the yellow, another bed with the Confetti variety, another bed with Irene (which my grandmother had over 70 years ago!) and then the largest bed with Dallas Red. It would sometimes get killed back in the winter but a good pruning down to the ground always encouraged new growth and kept it from getting too leggy. I don't like working in it though because those little prickly hairs can work themselves into the skin of your fingers and make them really sore! And you are right: It grows really fast so you can get really excited about it!
