This week the theme for Photo Hunters is Advertisement. After much thought I decided to share with you two forms of advertisement we came across during our recent vacation in Omaha.
Sitting in a field near exit 10 on highway 29 just south of the city I photographed this water tower that resembles a coffee pot and advertises the Sapp Bros. Truck Stop and Restaurant. I was told by locals that there are several of these coffee pots in the Omaha area. I also heard that in cold weather steam can be seen coming from the spout and that at night the knob on the lid lights up. I did some research and could not confirm that information but did learn that the tower is 110 feet tall and serves the water needs of the truck stop which is located just far enough from the city to not have city services.
While sightseeing in the down town area I captured this pic of one of the city buses. What a name for a Grocery store!

I dunno - Having flown no-frills airlines, I'd be a little scared to shop a no-frills grocery store... But I love that coffee pot water tower! I want one! :-)

ReplyDeleteI know of a coffee company in Roanoke, VA that has as its sign a big old fashioned percolator and it has a stream of coffee (fake sign type) flowing from the spout that lights up at night. Mine is up here.
ReplyDeleteI love the coffee pot water tower, and the bus makes me think of the commercials for the beef industry where they say at the end, "Beef it's what's for dinner."
ReplyDeleteI'm liking that "coffee pot" tower. Looks like it may be juuuust enough...for a week, perhaps :) Fun post, Rita!
ReplyDeleteThose are great shots, but I especially love the water tower. I think water towers with special shapes and designs are wonderful
