Welcome to Mellow Yellow Monday.
I live in a very old town on the Missouri river and there are many brick homes here that are over one hundred years old. Many are like the one I am featuring today. Though they may have been enlarged or updated they still have the original dental molding trim at the roof line. You will also see cast iron stars on the sides near the roof. These are connected to long iron rods that help to hold the trusses together.
A few days ago I drove past a house that has always been white and it had a new coat of yellow paint. As I passed the end of the house I noticed a man was painting that side. I did a snapped these shots from my passing car. Sorry my timing was a little off and I missed getting a shot of the full front.

What a cute little house. The yellow paint will really make a nice difference.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a pretty, cheerul yellow..
ReplyDeleteI like those metal stars that they are using as details.. very cool..
Karen, the stars are part of the construction of the era. They anchored long iron rods that reach from one side of the house to the other and help hold everything together.
ReplyDeleteRita, nice shade of yellow. Seems to be a popular colour, round here, as well.
ReplyDelete@Frank,thanks! I never knew that about the stars....
