mellow Yellow Monday ----A little girls dream

I popped in to visit with one of my cousins recently and found that my timing was perfect. She was preparing to have all her family over for Thanksgiving. As part of her preparations she was laying out the decorations, her granddaughter's would need, to decorate the dollhouse she had built for them.

I had never seen this adorable yellow house before and I quickly fell in love with it.

Kathy hand built this dollhouse, a number of years ago for her grandchildren, and decorating it for all the holidays had become a tradition for all of them. In fact she insisted on taking down the Halloween decorations before I took my photos.
I was fascinated by the details Kathy had incorporated into this house. If you click this photo and make it larger you will see lace curtains in the window, a cat on the roof over the porch and all the gingerbread details around the windows and on the porch.

Of course the house is fully furnished and every piece was hand made from a kit.

It has a dog house

Even a matching yellow car and hidden behind the car was a red canoe.

  1. Oh Rita I love this dollhouse! What a great tradition your cousin has! I love it so much! We are a little heavy on boys in our family -- my daughter has three brothers and she was (probably out of self-defense) never really interested in dolls -- I have four grandsons, two grand-daughters, and two great-grandsons and I have to go back to my childhood to remember having fun with dollhouses!

  5. I don't think I ever had a dollhouse we moved so much and I would have loved to play with this. I could help her decorate if she wanted. She is really building lovely memories with her grandchildren.
