Pink Saturday------El Palacio

It is Pink Saturday time once again. This week I want to share a photo of me, taken on our honeymoon in March 2007. I am standing in front of the best Mexican restaurant I have ever been in. This restaurant was located in Bullhead City, Arizona .

As someone who once owned and operated a family style restaurant I am very picky when it comes to food service. I learned long ago that there were only two ways to judge a restaurant. Like they say on HGTV's Design to Sell. Kitchen's and baths determine how fast a home sells. Well, the kitchen and bath are the best way to judge any restaurant. Since the kitchen and walk-in coolers are off limits to patrons that only leaves how well the rest rooms are maintained.

Whenever the Old Salt and I go into a new place for the first time we always go to the restroom first. If it passes muster then we feel comfortable about dining there. We were traveling and stopped for what most people would call an early lunch. The restaurant had just opened and the parking lot was still empty. As we were walking across the parking lot a young man came out with his squeegee and a bucket of window cleaner and paper towels. A good sign. The rest rooms would have passed the most critical white glove test in any branch of the military.

The service was perfect, the food was visually appealing and delicious. When the waitress brought our check it was on a plate with two small pastries. I have never seen this pastry before or since but it was fantastic. I would have loved to take a few with us for the road. You can be sure this is the first place we will visit if we are ever in Bullhead City again.

I captured these shocking pink windows during our recent visit to Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

  3. Oh Rita! Great Post. I live in Phoenix, so we may make this a day trip to Bullhead City for fun. I will keep you posted. I love Eureka Springs. It has changed a lot since I was a kid and we went there every year for vacation, as we went fishing near Rogers, AK and spent at least one Saturday in Eureka Springs. The streets were still cobble stone at the time, and there was a beautiful little ice cream shop that had parlor chairs and all. Such a beautiful place. Did you get to see Christ of the Ozarks while you were in the area? That is the most breath taking statue I have ever seen. Again great post. Happ PS. I signed up to follow your blog. I think we have been to many of the same places. Please stop by and say hi. I would love for you to follow my blog as well. Country Hugs, Sherry

  7. Happy Pink Saturday, Rita.

Thanks for the insider tips on restaurant evaluation. I always hate it when I go in the restroom and find yuck! I actually have left before because of it.

Thank you for stopping by my site. Without your visits there would be no incentive to continue posting. So, having you here and reading your comments is the highlight of my day.

I regret that time does not always allow me to return visits to everyone who stops by, but, I will certainly do my best to get to everyone. I will definitely answer any questions you leave me.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.
